Tanning bed bulbs will work effectively for several years if they are maintained correctly. Often, people think that their bulbs need to be replaced, when in reality they just need to give the inside of the tanning bed a good cleaning.
Tanning beds have a tendency to accumulate dust, which can affect the way that the UV rays pass through the bulbs, so it is important to clean your tanning bed bulbs at least once a month.
Remove the tanning acrylics from your tanning bed. Basically, the acrylics are thick, clear sheets of plastic that you can lie on when you are planning to tan. Usually, the top of the acrylics are wiped properly after each and every tanning class. There is a possibility that these sheets may pop up or slide out if you do not unscrew these sheets to the corners of the bed.
Remove the tanning lamps. Tanning lamps are long, thin bulbs that look like fluorescent bulbs. They need to be handled with care, but they can be removed and then put back with little difficulty. Lay them flat on top of the clean sheet as you remove them. Never prop any bulbs upright.
With a clean and damp cloth, wipe down the bulbs. Find out that you have rinsed the cloth properly and that there is hardly any water in the cloth. Once you have wiped out the bulb, clean the other sheet so that you do not have to lay it back down in the dirt. After cleaning the lamps, if you find that your cloth is full of dust then wet it again and squeeze it out before you start wiping down more bulbs.
Put back the bulbs in the bed. Try to screw the bulbs as gentle as possible as you would have done with any light bulb. If you have no practice in screwing the bulbs, then take help of another person or electrician to keep away accidental banging of the bulbs on the edge of the bed and cracking them.
Place the acrylic back into the place. Get sure that you have cleaned the underside of the acrylics before you think of placing them back in place again.
A lot of dust is collected in tanning beds, so it would be better to have it cleaned each and every part, which includes the fans and the ballast tray below the bed, each time you think of cleaning the bulbs.
