Normally bathroom is an enclosed place with moisture in it. Hence the place needs an extractor fan which can pull the moist and dust air out of it. Bathroom exhaust fan are of two types. One is the propeller or axial fan and the other is the centrifugal fan. The propeller or axial fan is same as the fan which we use regularly in our homes. It rotates and moves the air by moving circularly. There is no requirement of the large pressure in moving in the circular motion. Hence these fans are affordable and efficient.
The other type of fan is the centrifugal fans which are not accepted as the axial fan for the bathrooms. The centrifugal force mostly used to draw the air out of the radial vanes in the plates. So it is easy to fit these fans on your own as it comes with the fitting instructions.
The function of an extractor fan is that it extracts the dry air out when it is turned on. These fans have blades or impellers attached to the electric motor. When the motor starts rotating, it pulls the air and disposes out of the grille.
The axial fan and the centrifugal fan can be fitted in two places. The axial fan can be fitted on the window, but for that you have to do a hole in the glass. For making holes you will be requiring a specific tools. You can also try in other way by making it fitted on the wall. And for that you need to have a drilling machine to drill the wall. The drilling of the wall can take long time depending upon the thickness of the wall. Also this comes to be tiresome job as you have to exert force on the drill.
There are also some fans which have automatic cut-off switches. It switches off automatically when the moisture in the bathroom decreases, and turns on again when the humidity increases.
